Our pious Ulema say that we should have a balance of hope and Fear of Allah. If a person has a balance of Fear and hope he reaches the level of true ihsan.

Allah says,

And among His wonders is this: He displays before you the lightning, giving rise to [both] fear and hope and sends down water from the skies, giving life thereby to the earth after it had been lifeless: in this, behold, there are messages indeed for people who use their reason!  (Quran-30:24)

 لَا تَقْنَطُوا۟ مِن رَّحْمَةِ ٱللَّهِ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

Despair not of God’s mercy: behold, God forgives all sins – for, verily, He alone is much-forgiving, a dis­penser of grace!(39:53)

Let us read some more verses of Quran on hope.

  1. And do not waver, nor feel remorse. You are the superior ones, if you are believers.(3:139)
  2. “And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah].” [Quran 2:45]
  3. “And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him a way out. And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah – then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent.” [Quran 65:2-3]
  4. “Indeed, Allah is with the patient.” [Quran 2:153]
  5. “Allah is with you and will never deprive you of your (good) deeds.” (Quran 47:35)
  6. “So verily, with hardship, there is relief. Verily, with hardship, there is relief.” [Quran 94:5-6]
  7. “And never give up hope of Allah’s mercy. Certainly, no one despairs of Allah’s mercy, except the people who disbelieve.” [Quran 12:87]
  8. “If Allah knows [any] good in your hearts, He will give you [something] better than what was taken from you, and He will forgive you; and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.” (Quran 8:70)
  9. “And Allah is the best of planners.” [Quran 8:30]
  10. “If Allah should aid you, no one can overcome you; but if He should forsake you, who is there that can aid you after Him? And upon Allah let the believers rely.” (Quran 3:160)
  11. “And whoever puts all his trust in Allah, He will be enough for him.” [Quran 65:3]
  12. “And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him a way out. And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah – then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent.” [Quran 65:2-3]
  13. “After a difficulty, Allah will soon grant relief.” (Quran 65:7)
  14. “And He will provide him from [sources] he never could imagine.” [Quran 65:3]
  15. “Do not despair of Allah’s mercy, for Allah forgives all sins. He is indeed the Forgiving, the Merciful.” [Quran 39:53]
  16. “And Allah is with the doers of good.” [Quran 29:69]
  17. “And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace.” [Quran 25:63]
  18. “So be patient. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth.” [Quran 30:60]
  19. “And never give up hope of Allah’s mercy, for Allah forgives all sins.” [Quran 39:53]
  20. “Indeed, Allah is with those who are patient.” [Quran 8:46]
  21. “And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah].” [Quran 2:45]
  22. “So verily, with hardship, there is relief. Verily, with hardship, there is relief.” [Quran 94:5-6]
  23. “Allah is with you and will never deprive you of your (good) deeds.” (Quran 47:35)
  24. “Indeed, Allah is with the patient.” [Quran 2:153]
  25. No soul knows what delight of the eyes is kept hidden from them, as a recompense for what they used to do}. (82:16-17

Above were few Verses of Quran on hope. A believer’s heart should be fearful of Allah always and hopeful of His favours and mercy.’ If he happens to falter and commits a sin then he must repent forthwith and refrain from that sin again. He must fear Allah’s punishment and hope for His favours and grace for his pious deeds. It is a demand of faith that when a sin is committed intentionally or un intentionally, one must repent sincerely and be ashamed one’s conduct and seek Allah’s forgiveness.
