Day 2: Reflecting on the Names of Allah – Al-Quddus, As-Salam, Al-Mu’min
As I continue this journey of discovering Allah through His beautiful names, I find my heart yearning for a deeper connection with Him. Every name carries a lesson, a reminder of who Allah is and what He means to me. Today, I reflect on three names that fill my heart with peace and reassurance.
Al-Quddus (القدوس) – The Pure, The Holy
Comes from the root “q-d-s”, meaning purity, sanctity, and being free from flaws.
Quranic Reference::
“Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth is exalting Allah, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.” (Quran 62:1)
As-Salam (السلام) – The Source of Peace
Comes from the root “s-l-m”, meaning peace, safety, and soundness.
“He is Allah, besides whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Source of Peace…” (Quran 59:23)
Al-Mu’min (المؤمن) – The Guardian of Faith
Comes from the root “a-m-n”, meaning faith, security, and trust.
Quranic Reference: “He is Allah, besides whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Source of Peace, the Guardian of Faith…” (Quran 59:23)
You can write your own reflection after learning and pondering over these beautiful names.
Al-Quddus – The Most Holy, The Absolutely Pure
When I think of Al-Quddus, I am reminded that Allah is beyond any imperfection. He is pure in every sense—His essence, His actions, His wisdom. Everything He decrees is perfect, even when I fail to understand it.
“Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth is exalting Allah, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.” (Quran 62:1)
Reflecting on this name makes me realize how much I need to purify my heart. The more I let go of worldly distractions and focus on Allah, the more peace I feel. Al-Quddus invites me to cleanse my thoughts, my intentions, and my soul.
As-Salam – The Source of Peace
True peace is not in wealth, status, or worldly achievements. It is in knowing Allah, trusting His plans, and submitting to His will. As-Salam is the One who grants tranquility to the hearts that seek Him.
“He is Allah, there is no deity except Him, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him.” (Quran 59:23)
There have been moments in my life when I felt lost, anxious, or overwhelmed. But every time I turned to Allah in prayer, I found peace. It wasn’t because my problems disappeared, but because my heart learned to trust Him. As-Salam reminds me that true contentment comes from seeking Him alone.
Al-Mu’min – The Infuser of Faith
Faith is a gift. I often take it for granted, but when I reflect on how Allah has guided me, I see how precious this gift is. Al-Mu’min is the One who strengthens my heart with Iman, who places light in my soul, and who reassures me when I struggle.
“And whoever believes in Allah – He will guide his heart.” (Quran 64:11)
How many times have I doubted myself, only to find comfort in a verse of the Quran? How often has a hardship led me closer to Him? These are not coincidences—this is Al-Mu’min nurturing my faith and drawing me near.
Final Reflection
These three names remind me that Allah is the source of purity, peace, and faith. Al-Quddus teaches me to cleanse my soul, As-Salam fills my heart with tranquility, and Al-Mu’min strengthens my Iman.
Ya Al-Quddus, purify my heart from sin and distractions.
Ya As-Salam, fill my soul with peace and contentment.
Ya Al-Mu’min, strengthen my faith and keep me steadfast.
Ameen.
