Surah Al Qadr in English

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

Indeed, we sent the Qur’an down during the Night of Decree.

And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree?

The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.

The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter.

Peace is until the emergence of dawn.

Virtues of Surah al Qadr

Some of its virtues include:

  1. Revelation on Laylat al-Qadr: Surah Al-Qadr is closely associated with Laylat al-Qadr, often referred to as the “Night of Decree” or “Night of Power.” It is believed to be the night when the first verses of the Quran were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad by the Angel Gabriel. The Quran mentions the immense significance of this night in Surah Al-Qadr: “The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.” (Quran 97:3) This signifies the immense blessings and rewards of worship on this night.
  2. The immense reward: Worshipping Allah during Laylat al-Qadr, including reciting Surah Al-Qadr, is believed to yield extraordinary rewards and forgiveness of sins. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of seeking Laylat al-Qadr and engaging in acts of worship, such as prayer, recitation of the Quran, and supplication on this night.
  3. A means of purification and redemption: Reciting Surah Al-Qadr is considered a means of purifying the heart and seeking redemption from sins. It is encouraged to recite this surah frequently, especially during the last ten nights of Ramadan, as a way to draw closer to Allah and seek His forgiveness.
  4. A reminder of the Quran’s miraculous nature: The Quran mentions in Surah Al-Qadr that it was revealed during this blessed night, underscoring the miraculous nature of the Quran as a source of guidance and divine wisdom.
