There is a night in Ramadan unlike any other—a night so powerful that Allah describes it as better than a thousand months. But the beauty of Laylatul Qadr lies in its mystery—we don’t know the exact night it falls on, only that it is hidden within the odd nights of the last ten days. This makes every moment of these nights precious, a chance to seek Allah with sincerity and devotion.

When is Laylatul Qadr 2025?
Laylatul Qadr falls in the last ten nights of Ramadan, particularly on the odd nights. For Saudi Arabia, today (March 20, 2025) is the 21st night of Ramadan.
The odd nights when Laylatul Qadr is most likely to occur in Saudi Arabia are. It varies on wherever you are.

Seek Laylatul Qadr in the Odd Nights
We don’t know the exact night of Laylatul Qadr, but the Prophet ﷺ told us to seek it in the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadan (Bukhari, Muslim). Allah, in His wisdom, has hidden this blessed night so that we strive harder in worship instead of focusing on just one night.
So don’t limit your ibadah to one night—seek Laylatul Qadr on all the odd nights. No matter where you are, follow your local Ramadan calendar and make these nights count with extra prayers, Quran recitation, and dua.
The Significance of Laylatul Qadr
Allah (SWT) describes Laylatul Qadr in the Quran in Surah Al-Qadr:
“Indeed, We sent the Quran down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.” (Surah Al-Qadr 97:1-5)
This night is filled with blessings, mercy, and forgiveness. Worship performed on this night carries immense rewards, greater than those of worship spanning over 83 years.
Hadith on Laylatul Qadr
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:“Seek Laylatul Qadr in the last ten nights of Ramadan.” (Bukhari, Muslim)
He (peace be upon him) also said:”Whoever prays on the Night of Qadr with faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” (Bukhari, Muslim)
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) what supplication to make if she finds Laylatul Qadr, and he replied:”Say: O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love to forgive, so forgive me.” (Tirmidhi)
A Night of Forgiveness – One sincere prayer on this night can erase a lifetime of sins. What more could we ask for?
Rewards Beyond Imagination – Every act of worship on this night carries the reward of more than 1,000 months—that’s over 83 years of worship in just one night!
Angels Fill the Earth – The night is blessed with the descent of countless angels, bringing peace, mercy, and blessings to those engaged in worship.
Destinies Are Written – On this night, Allah decrees the affairs of the coming year—our sustenance, life, and fate are all decided.
A Night to Connect with Allah – There’s no better time to pour your heart out, seek closeness to Allah, and strengthen your relationship with Him.
Signs of Laylatul Qadr
Scholars have derived from hadith several signs that indicate Laylatul Qadr:
Five most authentic signs are:-
1. The sun rises early in the morning without rays.
From Ubayy, (RA), who said:that he (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: On the morning following Laylatul-Qadr the sun rises not having any rays, as if it were a brass dish, until it rises up.” [Muslim, Abu Dawud, Tirmithi and Ibn Majah]
2)It is a pleasant and calm
Ibn ‘Abbaas (RA), said: Allaah’s Messenger, (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), said: “Lailatul-Qadr is calm and pleasant, neither hot nor cold, the sun arises on its morning being feeble and red.” [ Ibn Khuzaimah and al-Bazzaar with a Hasan Isnad]
3)The sea water taste sweet.
One Sahaabi, Ab’da bin Abi Lubaaba (Radhi Allaho anho) says: “On the evening of the 27th , I tasted the water of the sea and it was sweet.”Ayub bin Khalid said: ‘I once had to bathe myself with sea water, and on tasting it, found, it sweet. This was on the 23rd night.”
4)Rain may fall either during the night or during the day of that night.
5)During night the sky will be lightly foggy.
6). The sky will be slightly lighted without reflections and without rays.
One of the most recommended supplications for Laylatul Qadr is the dua taught by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her):
“O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love to forgive, so forgive me.” (Tirmidhi)
Laylatul Qadr Surah
The two main surahs associated with Laylatul Qadr are:
Surah Al-Qadr (97) – which describes the virtues and significance of the night.
Surah Ad-Dukhan (44:3-4) – which mentions a blessed night in which all decrees are sent down.
Reciting these surahs, along with Surah Al-Ikhlas and other chapters of the Quran, is encouraged during this night.
Laylatul Qadr Prayer and Namaz
Praying during Laylatul Qadr carries immense rewards. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“Whoever prays on the Night of Qadr with faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” (Bukhari, Muslim)
Acts of Worship Recommended on Laylatul Qadr
Tahajjud (Night Prayer) – The most precious time to stand before Allah. Prolong your sujood, pour out your heart, and let your soul find peace.
Recitation of the Quran – This is the night the Quran was revealed—what better way to honor it than by reciting, reflecting, and letting its words sink deep into our hearts?
Making Dua and Dhikr – Ask, cry, repent, and seek Allah’s mercy. Keep your tongue moist with dhikr, for this is a night of acceptance.
Salatul Tasbih – A prayer filled with the remembrance of Allah, wiping away sins and filling the heart with tranquility.
Extra Nawafil Salah – The more you pray, the closer you draw to Allah. Seize the opportunity and fill your night with as many rak’ahs as you can.
Conclusion
Laylatul Qadr is not just any night—it is a gift, a lifeline, a chance to beautify our destiny with sincere worship and repentance. It is the night when Allah’s mercy pours down, when our past mistakes can be wiped away, and when our prayers can change the course of our lives.
As we approach Laylatul Qadr 2025, let’s not take this opportunity for granted. Let’s stand in prayer with hearts full of hope, raise our hands in dua with tears of sincerity, and seek Allah’s forgiveness as if we may not get another chance. Because, in reality, we don’t know if we will.
