Day 13 – Reflecting on Allah’s Names: Al-Kabir, Al-Hafiz, Al-Muqeet

In times of vulnerability and need, when protection and sustenance are essential, I turn to Allah. His greatness, safeguarding, and provision bring comfort and strength.

I remember that He is Al-Kabir, the Most Great, whose majesty surpasses all things. I remember that He is Al-Hafiz, the Preserver, who protects and maintains everything in existence. And I remember that He is Al-Muqit, the Sustainer, who nourishes and provides for all creation.

These names remind me that I am supported by the One whose greatness envelops the universe, whose protection is constant, and whose sustenance is guaranteed.

Today, I want to reflect on three of His beautiful names:

• Al-Kabir (ٱلْكَبِيرُ) – The Most Great
• Al-Hafiz (ٱلْحَفِيظُ) – The Preserver
• Al-Muqeet (ٱلْمُقِيتُ) – The Sustainer

These names remind me that Allah is greater than my worries, He is the One who preserves me, and He is the One who provides for me in ways I cannot even comprehend.

Al-Kabir (ٱلْكَبِيرُ) – The Most Great

The name Al-Kabir comes from the root “k-b-r” (ك ب ر) which means to be great, vast, and beyond limits. Allah’s greatness is unlike anything we know—He is greater than the heavens and the earth, greater than time, greater than anything we can imagine.

“That is because Allah is the Truth, and because He gives life to the dead, and because He is over all things competent, and because the Hour is coming—there is no doubt about it—and because Allah will resurrect those in the graves.”
(Surah Al-Hajj 22:6-7)

This verse highlights Allah’s supreme greatness and majesty.

There are moments when I feel trapped by my struggles—when the world feels too heavy on my shoulders. But Al-Kabir reminds me that nothing is greater than Allah. If I turn to Him, He will make a way out of any hardship.

Reflection:

• What worries feel overwhelming today? How can I remind myself that Al-Kabir is greater than them?
• How can I reflect Allah’s greatness in my life by humbling myself before Him?

Al-Hafiz (ٱلْحَفِيظُ) – The Preserver

The name Al-Hafiz comes from the root “ḥ-f-ẓ” (ح ف ظ) which means to guard, to protect, and to preserve from harm. Allah is the One who watches over everything—every soul, every action, every moment of our lives.

“And your Lord is the Preserver of all things.”
(Surah Saba 34:21)

This verse reassures me of Allah’s protective presence in every aspect of life.

How many times has Allah protected me without me even realizing it? How many unseen dangers has He saved me from? Every night, I sleep in peace because Al-Hafiz watches over me. Every step I take, I know that His protection surrounds me.

Reflection:

• When have I experienced Allah’s protection in my life?
• How can I strengthen my trust in Al-Hafiz instead of worrying about things beyond my control?

Al-Muqeet (ٱلْمُقِيتُ) – The Sustainer

The name Al-Muqeet comes from the root “q-w-t” (ق و ت) which means to nourish, to sustain, and to provide. Allah is the One who gives every creation exactly what they need—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

“And whoever relies upon Allah – then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent.”
(Surah At-Talaq 65:3)

I understand that Allah’s provision is unfailing, ensuring that every need is met with His bountiful care.

How often do I stress about provision—about money, health, or the future? But Al-Muqeet has already written everything for me. Just as He feeds the birds and provides for every creature, He will take care of me too.

Reflection:

• What is one worry I can let go of today, trusting that Al-Muqeet will take care of it?
• How can I be a means of sustenance for others, reflecting this name in my life?

Final Thoughts

These names of Allah bring so much comfort to my heart:

• Al-Kabir reminds me that nothing is greater than Him—so why should I fear anything else?
• Al-Hafiz reassures me that I am never alone—Allah is always watching over me.
• Al-Muqeet teaches me that Allah provides for me in ways I don’t even realize.

Ya Allah, You are Al-Kabir, greater than all my fears. You are Al-Hafiz, my Protector. You are Al-Muqeet, my Sustainer. Keep me close to You and grant me a heart full of trust in Your care.

Today, I want to hold onto these names, whisper them in my duas, and let them bring peace to my heart. Which of these names speaks to you the most today?
