Story of Zamzam

When Allah intended to test Ibrahim AS, he commanded him to leave his wife hajar and his beloved son Ismael (AS) in the dessert of Mecca. Mecca is located in a hot dry valley with few sources of water. When Ibrahim AS left them and was walking away, Hajar asked him are you leaving us here on Allah’s command to which Ibrahim AS replied in affirmative. After walking away a distance, Ibrahim AS made a dua for them. Meanwhile Ismael AS got thirsty. Hajar ran seven times back and forth in the scorching heat between the two hills of Safa and Marwah, looking for water. Getting thirstier by the second, the infant Isma’il AS scraped the land with his feet, where suddenly water sprang out.
