The Rawdah is part of the Prophet’s mosque, located between the Prophet and Aisha’s house, peace be upon them, and between the Prophet’s Minbar (or pulpit). Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said :That which is between my house” and my pulpit is a garden from the gardens of Paradise.
“ مَا بَيْنَ بَيْتِي وَمِنْبَرِي رَوْضَةٌ مِنْ رِيَاضِ الْجَنَّةِ ” .
Rawdah was adorned significantly during the Ottoman era in an effort to sanctify and highlight its significance. Today, the colour of the carpet defining the area of the Rawdah is light green and has a floral design, in contrast to the rest of the masjid, which has red carpeting.
Part of the Rawdah also lies inside the Sacred Chamber of the Prophet ﷺ beyond the gold grill and is inaccessible to the public. There are also six pillars within the Rawdah which hold special significance.
There are two entrances to the Rawdah which are normally guarded by police officers. The area is only able to hold several hundred at once people so accessing the Rawdah area may be difficult, especially during the Hajj season. You may need to wait for some time before a spot is vacated and you’re allowed entry.
The Raudah ul jannah opens for a short time for ladies. Read about my first experience at Rawdah.

“when facing the grave of Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam, there are three gold wire-mesh enclosures. There are round holes in all these three enclosures.
There are three round holes in the middle enclosure, while only two in the enclosure on your left and two in the enclosure on your right. The first hole in the middle enclosure (which is the largest of all) directly faces the holy face of Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam. Moving slightly to the right is the second hole (of the middle enclosure) which faces the face of Abu Bakr radhiyallahu anhu. Likewise, a third hole on this same enclosure marks the spot where the face of ‘Umar radhiyallahu anhu rests.” ( Allahu alam)
