Who is Jeff Monson
Jeffrey William Monson, born on January 18, 1971, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, is a renowned American-born Russian mixed martial artist, boxer, and submission grappler. Competing primarily in the heavyweight division, Monson has been a professional competitor since 1997, participating in prominent organizations such as the UFC, Strikeforce, DREAM, PRIDE, and M-1 Global, among others. He is a two-time ADCC World Champion and a no-gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion.
Monson grew up in Saint Paul, Minnesota, attending Timberline High School. He was a Division I wrestler at Oregon State University and the University of Illinois, where he also earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He later obtained a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota Duluth, where he also served as an assistant wrestling coach.

Before fully committing to MMA, Monson worked as a mental health professional, both in crisis evaluation and as a child and family counselor. His success in various grappling competitions, including the Abu Dhabi Combat Club events, led him to pursue a full-time career in mixed martial arts.
