In amsakta nafsi faghfir laha, wa in arsaltaha fahfazha bima tahfaz bihi ‘ibadaka-s-salihin.”(Sahih al-Bukhari 7393)

Bismika Rabbi Wada`tu janbi, wa bika arfa’hu. In amsakta nafsi faghfir laha, wa in arsaltaha fahfazha bima tahfaz bihi ‘ibadaka-s-salihin.”

Sunnah before going to sleep, sleeping dua

Sunnah before going to sleep

If you read this dua before sleep and if you die on that very night, you will die with faith (i.e. or the religion of Islam).

(O Allah! I surrender to You and entrust all my affairs to You and depend upon You for Your Blessings both with hope and fear of You. There is no fleeing from You, and there is no place of protection and safety except with You O Allah! I believe in Your Book (the Qur’an) which You have revealed and in Your Prophet (Muhammad) whom You have sent).

Reference:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said to me, “Whenever you go to bed perform ablution like that for the prayer, lie or your right side and say, “Allahumma aslamtu wajhi ilaika, wa fauwadtu `Amri ilaika, wa alja’tu Zahri ilaika raghbatan wa rahbatan ilaika.

Then if you die on that very night, you will die with faith (i.e. or the religion of Islam). Let the aforesaid words be your last utterance (before sleep).” I repeated it before the Prophet (ﷺ) and when I reached “Allahumma amantu bikitabika-l-ladhi anzalta (O Allah I believe in Your Book which You have revealed).” I said, “Wa-rasulika (and your Apostle).” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “No, (but say): ‘Wanabiyika-l-ladhi arsalta (Your Prophet whom You have sent), instead.”(Sahih al-Bukhari 247)

What is the best position to sleep in Islam?

Sleep on your Right side and put your right hand under your cheek.

Do not sleep on your belly:

Ya’ish bin Tikhfah Al-Ghifari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:My father said: I was lying down on my belly in the mosque when someone shook me with his foot and said, “Lying down this way is disapproved by Allah.” I looked up and saw that it was Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).: (Riyad as-Salihin 817)

Is sleeping with your hand a good idea in Islam?

Yes, Hand provides height just as pillow and it is a sunnah too.

Al-Bara’ bin `Azib (ra) narrated that:The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to lay his head upon his right hand when going to sleep, then say: “My Lord, safeguard me from Your punishment the Day You resurrect Your slaves (Rabbi qinī `adhābaka yawma tab`athu `ibādak).”(Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3399)

(Rabbi qinī `adhābaka yawma tab`athu `ibādak)

“My Lord, safeguard me from Your punishment the Day You resurrect Your slaves

Why should you sleep on the right side?

Sleeping on Right side is sunnah. Sleeping on right keeps the heart and mind active. Medically, Sleeping on the right side may be beneficial to those suffering from digestive issues. A 2003 study found that sleeping on the right side can help people with heart conditions. The right side of sleeping also helps to stabilize blood pressure and heart rate.

Right side sleeping can help improve circulation, reduce snoring, and ease back pain. It can also help prevent acid reflux and heartburn. If you are pregnant, sleeping on your right side can also help improve blood flow to your baby.

  • “Subhan Allah’ thirty three times,
  • ‘Al hamduli l-lah’ thirty three times, and
  • ‘Allahu Akbar’ thirty four times.

Narrated `Ali bin Abi Talib:Fatima came to the Prophet (ﷺ) asking for a servant. He said, “May I inform you of something better than that? When you go to bed, recite “Subhan Allah’ thirty three times, ‘Al hamduli l-lah’ thirty three times, and ‘Allahu Akbar’ thirty four times. `Ali added, ‘I have never failed to recite it ever since.” Somebody asked, “Even on the night of the battle of Siffin?” He said, “Even on the night of the battle of Siffin.”(Sahih al-Bukhari 5362)

Recite 4 Qul and blow in your hands and wipe over your body
