Dua for deceased and Dua at funeral

Dua for deceased: Death is the most difficult thing that can pass on a person in his life, to lose a loved one who is close to him and a beloved to him. One should make dua for deceased that may Allah forgive him/her, have mercy on him/her, and grant him/her highest level in paradise.

Hearing the news of death of Someone,we should say :

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un

إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ

Verily we belong to Allah, and verily to Him do we return. [Quran 2:156]

Dua for forgiveness of the deceased

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ اللَّهُمَّ ثَبِّتْهُ

Allāhumma’ghfir lah Allāhumma thabbit’h.

O Allah, forgive him. O Allah, strengthen him

The Prophet (ﷺ) used to stop after burying the dead and say to the people: “Ask Allah to forgive your brother and pray for him to be strengthened, for indeed he is now being questioned.” Abu Dawud 3/315, and Al-Hakim 1/370 who graded it authentic and Ath-Thahabi agreed.

“‏اللهم إن فلان ابن فلان في ذمتك وحبل جوارك، فقه فتنة القبر، وعذاب النار، وأنت أهل الوفاء والحمد؛ اللهم اغفر له وارحمه، إنك أنت الغفور الرحيم‏”

Allahumma inna [name of the dead person] fi dhimmatika wa habli jiwarika, faqihi fitnatal- qabri; wa ‘adhaban-Nari, wa Anta ahlul-wafa’i wal-hamdi; Allahumma faghfir lahu warhamhu, innaka Antal-Ghafur-ur-Rahim 

[If the dead person is a woman, one can change hu in some words here with ha][O Allah, (so-and-so son of so-and-so) is in Your Protection and inside the surroundings of Your Refuge. Safeguard him from the trial of the grave and the punishment of the Hell. You keep Your Promise and You deserve to be praised. O Allah! Forgive him and be merciful to him. Indeed, You are the Forgiving, the Merciful].”( Abu Dawud, Riyadh as saliheen 939)

“allahummaghfirlahu warhamhu” full dua

اللهُـمِّ اغْفِـرْ لَهُ وَارْحَمْـه، وَعافِهِ وَاعْفُ عَنْـه، وَأَكْـرِمْ نُزُلَـه، وَوَسِّـعْ مُدْخَـلَه، وَاغْسِلْـهُ بِالْمـاءِ وَالثَّـلْجِ وَالْبَـرَدْ، وَنَقِّـهِ مِنَ الْخطـايا كَما نَـقّيْتَ الـثَّوْبُ الأَبْيَـضُ مِنَ الدَّنَـسْ، وَأَبْـدِلْهُ داراً خَـيْراً مِنْ دارِه، وَأَهْلاً خَـيْراً مِنْ أَهْلِـه، وَزَوْجَـاً خَـيْراً مِنْ زَوْجِه، وَأَدْخِـلْهُ الْجَـنَّة، وَأَعِـذْهُ مِنْ عَذابِ القَـبْر وَعَذابِ النّـا

Allaahum-maghfir lahu warhamhu, wa ‘aafihi, wa’fu ‘anhu, wa ‘akrim nuzulahu, wa wassi’ mudkhalahu, waghsilhu bilmaa’i waththalji walbaradi, wa naqqihi minal-khataayaa kamaa naqqaytath-thawbal-‘abyadha minad-danasi, wa ‘abdilhu daaran khayran min daarihi, wa ‘ahlan khayran min ‘ahlihi, wa zawjan khayran min zawjihi, wa ‘adkhilhul-jannata, wa. ‘a’ithhu min ‘athaabil-qabri[wa ‘athaabin-naar

O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him and give him strength and pardon him. Be generous to him and cause his entrance to be wide and wash him with water and snow and hail. Cleanse him of his transgressions as white cloth is cleansed of stains. Give him an abode better than his home, and a family better than his family, and a wife better than his wife. Take him into Paradise and protect him from the punishment of the grave [and from the punishment of Hell-fire].

Dua for deceased- “Allaahum-maghfir lihayyinaa”

اللهُـمِّ اغْفِـرْ لِحَيِّـنا وَمَيِّتِـنا وَشـاهِدِنا، وَغائِبِـنا، وَصَغيـرِنا وَكَبيـرِنا، وَذَكَـرِنا وَأُنْثـانا. اللهُـمِّ مَنْ أَحْيَيْـتَهُ مِنّا فَأَحْيِـهِ عَلى الإِسْلام، وَمَنْ تَوَفَّـيْتََهُ مِنّا فَتَوَفَّـهُ عَلى الإِيـمان، اللهُـمِّ لا تَحْـرِمْنـا أَجْـرَه، وَلا تُضِـلَّنا بَعْـدَهُ

Allaahum-maghfir lihayyinaa, wa mayyitinaa, wa shaahidinaa, wa ghaa’ibinaa, wa sagheerinaa wa kabeerinaa, wa thakarinaa wa ‘unthaanaa. Allaahumma man ‘ahyaytahu minnaa fa’ahyihi ‘alal-‘Islaami, wa man tawaffaytahu minnaa fatawaffahu ‘alal-‘eemaani, Allaahumma laa tahrimnaa ‘ajrahu wa laa tudhillanaa ba’dahu

 O Allah forgive our living and our dead, those who are with us and those who are absent, our young and our old, our menfolk and our womenfolk. O Allah, whomever you give life from among us give him life in Islam, and whomever you take way from us take him away in Faith. O Allah, do not forbid us their reward and do not send us astray after them.

اللهم أنزل رحمتك على من يرحلون عنا ولم يرحلوا منا، واغفر لهم واسق قبورهم برحمتك وعفوك وغفرانك، وأنرها واجعلها عليهم بردا وسلاما وآنسهم في وحدتهم وفي وحشتهم، يارب اعف عن أرواح تراها ولانراها، وهب لهم بقدر دعاء الصالحين للأموات رضوانا، وأكرمهم بفردوسك الاعلى واجمعنا بهم يارب، اللهم في هذه الجمعه انزل على قبور من فقدناهم ضياء يؤنس وحشتهم،وينور مضجعهم،وسعه في قبورهم ، وارحمهم يا ارحم الراحمين.

اللهم ندعوك أن تفتح لامواتنا بابك ويسر لهم أسبابك واصرف عنهم عذابك واجزهم جنتك وثوابك واجمعهم مع نبيك في جناتك اللهم ارحم من فارقونا الى القبور وانزل عليهم الضياء والنور والفسحة رب اجعل بطون الالحاد خير منازلهم وفسيح جنانك هي ديارهم وقرارهم.

اللهم ارحمه فوق الارض وتحت الارض ويوم العرض عليك اللهم قه عذابك يوم تبعث عبادك اللهم انزل نورا من نورك عليه – اللهم نور له قبره ووسع مدخله وآنس وحشته – اللهم ارحم غربته وارحم شيبته – اللهم اجعل قبره روضة من رياض الجنة لا حفرة من حفر النار – اللهم أغفر له وارحمه واعف عنه واكرم نزله – اللهم ابدله دارا خيرا من داره . واهلا خيرا من اهله وذرية خيرا من ذريته وزوجا خيرا من زوجه وادخله الجنة بغير حساب برحمتك يا ارحم الراحمين

اللهم انقله من ضيق اللحود ومن مراتع الدود الى جناتك جنات الخلود لا اله الا انت يا حنان يا منان يا بديع السموات والارض تغمده برحمتك يا ارحم الراحمين اللهم اطعمه من الجنة واسقه من الجنة واره مكانه من الجنة وقل له أدخل من أي باب تشاء – اللهم انه في ذمتك وحبل جوارك فقه من فتنة القبر وعذاب النار وانت اهل الوفاء والحق فاغفر له وارحمه انك انت الغفور الرحيم.

Dua for deceased Parents in arabic

اللهم أغفر لهما وأرحمهما وأجعلهما من أصحاب اليمين .. اللهم باعد بينهما وبين خطاياهما كما باعدت بين المشرق والمغرب .. اللهم نقهم من الذنوب والخطايا كما ينق الثوب الأبيض من الدنس .. اللهم أغسلهما بالماء والثلج والبرد .. اللهم أبدلهما داراً خيراً من دارهم وأهلاً خيراً من أهلهم .. اللهم أجعل قبريهما روضةً من رياض الجنة ، ولا تجعله حفرة من حفر النار .. اللهم إن كانا محسناً فزد في إحسانهما ، وإن كانا مسيئاً فتجاوز عن سيئاتهما .. اللهم اغفر لموتانا وجميع اموات المسلمين.
