Why Recite Surah Al-Kahf on Friday?
The importance of reciting Surah Al-Kahf on Fridays stems from authentic Hadiths that highlight the rewards and blessings associated with this act:
- Light from One Friday to the Next
Rasul Allah Sallalahu Alaihe Wa Sallam said, “Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf on Friday, it will illuminate him with light from one Friday to the next” (Sahih Al-Jami). This light is a metaphor for guidance, inner peace, and protection in one’s life journey. - Protection from the Dajjal
Another significant reason to recite Surah Al-Kahf is for protection from the Dajjal (the Antichrist). Rasul Allah Sallalahu Alaihe Wa Sallam said, “Whoever memorizes the first ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf will be protected from the Dajjal” (Sahih Muslim). The Dajjal represents a major trial of deception in Islamic eschatology, and reciting Surah Al-Kahf provides a safeguard against his influence. - A Sunnah Practice to Gain Rewards
Reciting Surah Al-Kahf on Fridays is a Sunnah that brings immense rewards and draws one closer to Allah. By following this practice, Muslims fulfill a prophetic teaching and engage in an act that brings barakah (blessings) into their lives.

Surah al kahf: Dua of people of cave:
رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةًۭ وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًۭا
“Rabbanaa aatinaa min ladunka rahmatanw wa haiyi lanaa min amrinaa rashadaa.”
Surah al Kahf shows us the mirror of reality of life. Allah subhana ta’ala says in Surah al Kahf,
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا مَا عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ زِينَةًۭ لَّهَا لِنَبْلُوَهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًۭا ٧
“Lahaa linabluwahum ayyuhum ahsanu amalaa in kahf.”
We have indeed made whatever is on earth as an adornment for it, in order to test which of them is best in deeds.
Allah swt then says, That is how We caused them to be discovered so that their people might know that Allah’s promise ˹of resurrection˺ is true and that there is no doubt about the Hour.
