This Book is my definite recommend to any one who wants to improve his Character and Personality .This book is also for you if you take a deep interest in early childhood Islamic parenting. It explains in simple language the ways we can build an environment that will help us nurture our children to follow in the footsteps of the beloved Prophet (saw). It’s not an academic book, neither is it filled with spiritual guidance. It is a bit of both and most importantly it is practical. A Kind of Self Help Book!
It tells the story of the Prophet Muhammad as an inspirational role model for anyone who wants to be extraordinary.
In this book the author brings about the lessons that one can derive from the life of the Prophet and apply them in the 21st century. The first half of the book is aimed towards parents and guardians; where suggestions are given on how to provide a good environment for the proper growth of a child, based on the Prophet’s own childhood. The rest of the book is directed to teenagers and adults and what they can learn from the later parts of the Prophet’s life. The language is very simple and uncomplicated. Some minor misprints were found which should be corrected in later editions. I wish, however, that the author went into a bit more detail regarding the information and also quote all of the sources.
This is definitely a different kind of seerah book. One that parents probably need,
It Talks of Lessons from Prophet Muhammad’s Life from
- From his Childhood
- His Family
- His Environment
- His Adolescence
- Life in his 40s
- Life in his 50’s
Some Pearls from this Book
How did Muhammad SAW deal with the elderly?
1. He honored them
“Part of your respect for Allah is to show your respect for the grey-haired Muslim”, ﷺ said.“He isn’t one of us who doesn’t respect our elders.”, he also said.
The Prophet SAW said the above hadith when an elderly man came to talk to him, and the people were hesitant to make room for the old man.
2. He gave them priority
a) He gave them priority when talking.”Let the eldest of you speak”, ﷺ once said.
b) He gave them priority when leading the prayer. In the hadith: “when leading the prayer, the one who is most versed in the Book of Allah should lead.If all are equally versed, then the earliest of them to emigrate (to Medina). If they emigrated at the same, then the eldest among them.”
c) He gave them priority when greeting.”The young should greet the elder”, the Prophet ﷺ said.
3. He made life easier for them
“When you lead people in the prayer, make it short, because there are among… the elderly”, the Messenger ﷺ said. Also, once Abu Bakr came to see Prophet ﷺ with his father. When the Prophet ﷺ saw the elderly man, he said to Abu Bakr: “You should have left the shaykh at home, until it was me to go to him.”
4. He showed his warmest welcome
An old woman visited the Prophetﷺ, and he received her very well. After her departure, his wife Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, commented: “You paid so much attention to this old lady”.The Prophet ﷺ responded: “Courtesy and politeness are the integral part of faith.”
5. He gave them hope
6. Finally, the Prophet ﷺ considered the elderly to be among the best people, if they had good deeds. When asked which of the people were best, he said: “Those whose life were long and their deeds were good.”May Allah give us all long life, and enable us to treat elders with love, care and respect.Hesham Al-Awadi, author of Muhammadﷺ: How He Can Make You Extraordinary
How did the Prophet SAW deal with sinners?
There is a beautiful story that I learned in this Book:
A man came to the Prophet ﷺ saying that he did with a woman everything accept adultry. The Prophet ﷺ initially kept quiet. He then recited ﷺ “And observe prayer at the ends of the day and in the first hours of the night. Surely, good deeds take away evil deeds” (11:114).The Prophet ﷺ might make the offender feel bad what he did but not bad about himself.
Maintaining self-esteem was a key to changing the offender’s behavior.
There was a humorous man that used to make the Prophet ﷺ laugh. The man had drinking problems and used to be punished for it.One day he was brought to the Prophet ﷺ for the same charge. One of the Muslims cursed him for his addiction. The Prophet ﷺ said “Do not curse him, because I know that he loves Allah and His Messenger”.His addiction for alcohol was reprimanded. But his love for Allah and the Prophet was recognized.
May Allah forgive our sins and give us the strength to serve him in the challenging times we live in.
